(NAR) VOL. 11 NO.1 / JANUARY – MARCH 2000

[ MTRCB MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 98-14, September 09, 1998 ]

REVOCATION OF ALL EXEMPTIONS PREVIOUSLY GRANTED

Prior to the approval and implementation of the revised MTRCB Implementing Rules and Regulations (1998 RULES), certain programs were previously granted exemptions from review by the Board, subject to payment of 50% of the required fees.

Section 14 of the 1998 RULES provide that no film or television program shall be granted exemption from classification for audience suitability. Pursuant to this, the Present Board no longer grants any exemptions, except as otherwise provided for in Section 7 of Presidential Decree No. 1986. Section 28 (b) of the 1998 RULES provides further that television programs are given a broadcast permit for three months on the basis of a sample of its output for the season.

In view of the foregoing, the BOARD HEREBY REVOKES ALL EXEMPTIONS PREVIOUSLY GRANTED TO TELEVISION PROGRAMS, effective 16 September 1998. All programs must thereon submit sample episodes for classification and pay the full amount of fees for each scheduled airing for a period of three months.

The Board shall honor all exemptions previously granted and fees paid on the basis of such exemptions only up to 15 September 1998, applying payments that may already have been made on a 50% basis up to said date.

For your information and compliance.

Adopted: 09 Sept. 1998
