(NAR) VOL 9 NO.1/JANUARY - MARCH 1998

[ POEA MEMORANDUM, January 22, 1998 ]

TERMINAL FEE EXEMPTION FOR OFWS

The POEA has been officially advised by the MIAA Terminal Office that effective immediately only the original duplicate of the worker’s copy of the overseas employment certificate will be honored by the terminal fee counter at the country’s international airports for the purpose of terminal fee exemption for departing OFWs. In the absence of said copy, the worker/seafarer shall be assessed the P 500 terminal fee.

In this connection, OFWs are advised to keep their copy of the OEC for presentation at the terminal fee counter upon departure. Recruitment agencies and manning agencies are enjoined to remind their departing workers/seafarers of the importance of the OEC copy for airport formalities.

For information and guidance.
