[ PRC BOARD OF PHYSICAL AND OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 16, SERIES 2004, July 19, 2004 ]

AMENDING BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 6, SERIES OF 1985 BY INTEGRATING THE SUBJECTS UNDER SUBJECT III IN THE TWO-DAY OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS (OT) LICENSURE EXAMINATION INTO ONE (1) SUBJECT III - APPLICATIONS OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY



WHEREAS, the Board, Res. No. 6, Series of 1985, provided the following subjects and their corresponding ratings with their syllabi in the Occupational Therapist Licensure Examination:

I.Anatomy, Kinesiology, and Physiology _____________________________________________________________ 20%
II. General Medical, Surgical, Orthopedic Neurological conditions ___________________________________________ 20%
III Occupational Therapy Treatment Program, and Organization and Administration in Rehabilitation __________________ 60%

WHEREAS, the Board pursuant to Sec. 16 of R.A. No. 5680, known as the "Physical and Occupational Therapy Law", empowers it to determine the scope and schedule of the examination subjects mentioned in Sec. 15 (e) thereof;

WHEREAS, Subjects I and II have been scheduled in the first day, and Subject III, in the Second day in the OT Licensure Examination;

WHEREAS, there is a need to cluster and integrate Subject III (Occupational Therapy Treatment Program, and Organization and Administration Rehabilitation) into one (1) Subject III - APPLICATIONS OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY, which can be conducted only in one (1) day;

WHEREAS, the said clustering and integration into one (1) subject will not only facilitate the conduct of licensure examination but it will also enable the Board to include therein other areas, topics or concepts of occupational therapy; and

WHEREAS, after consultation with the academe, etc., the Board decided to adopt the foregoing proposed changes or amendments in Board Res. No. 6, Series of 1985;

NOW, THEREFORE, the Board hereby resolved, as it is now resolves, to amend Board Res. No. 6, Series of 1985, by clustering and integrating these subjects (Occupational Therapy Treatment Program, and Organization and Administration in Rehabilitation) under Subject III into one (1) subject III: APPLICATIONS OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY with a weight of 60% which will include therein additional areas, topics or concepts of occupational therapy.

The Syllabus of subject III shall consist of the topics or concepts covered by subject III set forth in Boards Res. No. 6, Series of 1985 and of these new, additional topics and concepts of some OT areas, not included in subjects I, II, and III, which are the following:
 
1.

Occupational Therapy Applications

- Evaluation and Management of Psychosocial Dysfunctions
2. Occupational Therapy Application - Evaluation and Management of Physical Disabilities
3. Updated on occupational Therapy Practice

This Resolution shall take effect after fifteen (15) days following its full and complete publication in the Official Gazette or in any newspaper of general circulation.

Let copies of the herein Resolution be distributed to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Deans of Schools/College/Universities offering the course of occupational therapy, concerned PRC Central Office/Division, and PRC Regional Offices for dissemination to all concerned.
