[ POEA DEPARTMENT ORDER NO. 18, S. 1995, May 10, 1995 ]

IMPLEMENTING GUIDELINES ON EXEMPTION FROM THE TRAINING, TESTING AND CERTIFICATION OF PERFORMING ARTISTS AND THE PRE-DEPARTURE SHOWCASE PREVIEW



Further to Department Order No. 3 Series of 1994, Section III.5 entitled "Mandatory Training and Testing for Performing Artists" and Section IV.F entitled "Pre-Departure Showcase Preview, the following guidelines are hereby issued:

1. Performing artists, singly or as part of a group, with an Outstanding track record of local or overseas performances of at least one year in major performance venues such as five star hotels, first class and well known clubs and theaters, television and movies shall be granted exemption from the academic and skills training and testing.

As proof of the artist's qualifications, the following documents shall be presented to the POEA for evaluation:

1.1 Employment Record

1.2 Record/cassette covers of singers;

1.3 Newspaper and magazine clippings/reviews of the artist's performances;

1.4 Layout of performance advertisements;

1.5 Albums/portfolio/pictures of performances; and

1.6 Other proofs/documents that may be required.

2. A performing artist who is granted exemption under this Department Order shall be issued an Artist Record Book.

3. A performing artist who is granted exemption under this Department Order shall likewise be exempted from the pre-departure showcase preview if he/she will be leaving in a group whose members are equally granted exemption.

This Order shall take effect immediately and supersedes all other issuances inconsistent herewith.
