[ PRC RESOLUTION NO. 05, SERIES OF 1995, May 16, 1995 ]

ADOPTION OF ECE CODE VOLUME 2: BUILDING TELEPHONE FACILITIES



WHEREAS, the ECE Code Committee of the Institute of Electronics and Communications Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (IECEP) prepared a Code which shall govern the building and/or establishment of telephone facilities;

WHEREAS, the Committee conducted public hearings to get the views of individuals, public and private organizations, professionals and other parties involved in the telecommunications industry on the proposed Code;

WHEREAS, the Committee, on the basis of the views of the above-mentioned sectors, finalized a Code which it denominates as "ECE Code Volume 2" otherwise known as "Building Telephone Facilities";

WHEREAS, the ECE Code Volume 2 is designed to be the standard reference book in the design, construction of telephone cabling and wiring facilities in buildings, commercial edifices, manufacturing plants, etc.; and

WHEREAS, under Sec. 13 of R.A. 5734: the "Electronics and Communication Engineering Law of the Philippines", the Board is empowered to adopt from time to time and whenever necessary such measures as may be deemed proper for the advancement of the profession in keeping with the progress of the industry.

NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the power vested in it under Sec. 13(j) of Republic Act No. 5734, the Board of Electronics and Communications Engineering RESOLVED, as it now RESOLVES, to adopt ECE Code Volume 2 otherwise known as the "Building Telephone Facilities" and hereby promulgates the same as part of the Rules and Regulations governing the practice of Electronics and Communications Engineering in the Philippines.

RESOLVED FURTHER, that the planning and design of building telephone facilities shall be signed, prepared and sealed and the actual installation of such facilities shall be under the direct supervision of an electronics and communications engineer who is duly registered and holding a valid Certificate of Registration and professional license.

FURTHERMORE, RESOLVED, that upon approval by the Commission, this Resolution shall be effective after fifteen (15) days following its publication in the Official Gazette or newspaper of general circulation, whichever is earlier.
