COMPLIANCE WITH THE INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION ON CIVIL LIABILITY FOR OIL POLLUTION DAMAGE, 1992 (CLC, 1992)



In accordance with the provisions of Article VII paragraph 2 of the International Convention on Civil Liability For Oil Pollution Damage, 1992 (CLC, 1992), all Philippine-registered tankers/barges plying in international trade carrying more than 2,000 tons of oil in bulk as cargo are required to be covered by insurance or other financial security to answer liability for pollution damage under the Convention.

As the CLC shall become effective for the Philippines on 07 July 1998, all Philippine-registered tankers/barges covered by the Convention shall be issued the corresponding CLC Certificate by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) upon the submission of a copy(ies) of the proof of insurance cover.
