RULES ON THE COLLECTION OF ANNUAL TONNAGE FEE



Pursuant to MARINA Circular No. 2008-05 and No. 2008-07, the following are hereby clarified:

1. For the initial implementation, Annual Tonnage fee shall be assessed based on the total Gross Tonnage (GT) of an entity as of 31 December 2008;

2. Authority to Accept Payment shall be made through the Maritime Safety Office (MSO) at the Central Office and at the concerned MARINA Regional Office, where the ship is registered;

3. Notice of an assessment of Annual Tonnage per entity shall be sent out to all concerned by 31 January 2009 with payment options due for the First Quarter (January 1 – March 31, 2009), Second Quarter (April 1 – June 30, 2009) and Second Semester (July 1 – December 31, 2009).

4. Charging of 50% surcharge plus 1% interest for every month of delinquency for fees or balance not paid within sixty (60) days from the due date for the Assessed Annual Tonnage Dues for the year ending 31 December 2008 shall start on 02 March 2010;

5. All fishing vessels are required to pay Tonnage Fees except those three (3) Gross Tons and below.
