[ POEA MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 41, September 13, 1996 ]

LIFTING OF THE TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF DEPLOYMENT TO BAHRAIN, KUWAIT, IRAN, JORDAN, LEBANON, SAUDI ARABIA AND SYRIA



In view of a generally peaceful and normal situation in the Gulf, the temporary suspension as indicated in Memorandum Circular No. 37, Series of 1996, on the processing and deployment of contract workers to the following countries, is hereby lifted:

1. Bahrain

2. Kuwait

3. Iran

4. Jordan

5. Lebanon

6. Saudi Arabia except areas in the northwest bordering Iraq and Kuwait

7. Syria

However, the processing and deployment of household workers to above-mentioned countries remain suspended.

It is also reiterated that processing and deployment shall resume only for the following workers:

a. returning contract workers;

b. contract workers of government offices and hospitals; and

c. contract workers of private establishments which have contingency plans.

This Circular shall take effect immediately.
