(NAR) VOL. 12 NO. 2 / JANUARY - MARCH 2001

[ DECS MEMORANDUM NO. 106, s. 2001, April 02, 2001 ]

EXTENSION CLASSES OF HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

1. It has come to our attention that some DECS personnel have enrolled or are about to enroll in extension classes offered by various Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

2. Please be informed that, according to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), only HEIs that are Level III accredited or are classified as Centers of Excellence or Centers of Development are allowed to offer extension classes (CHED Memorandum Order No. 26, s. 1996).  These extension classes, moreover, need to be Level III accredited themselves.

3. Credentials from any extension classes of HEIs not Level III accredited or not classified as COEs or CODs will not be accepted for any purpose inside DECS, including promotion.

4. Lists of HEIs that are Level III accredited or are COEs or CODs may be obtained from the Central Office or the Regional Offices of CHED.

5. For your guidance.

Adopted: 2 April 2001
