EXEMPTION OF TURBAN WEARING SIKHS FROM USING MOTORCYCLE CRASH HELMETS AND AMENDING SUBSUB SECTION 54, (I), III OF DEPARTMENT ORDER NO, 93-693



The corresponding provision of SubsubSection 54 of Subsection (letter L) of Section III of Department Order No. 93-693 re “failure to use helmet while driving a motorcycle” is hereby amended to read as follows:
“III. FINES/PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS OF LAND TRANSPORTATION LAWS:
“I. PARKING AND VIOLATIONS OF DRIVERS:

— failure to use crash/protective helmet while driving a motorcycle except all followers of the Sikh faith/religion while wearing a turban”
All law enforcement officers, deputies and agents are hereby ordered to refrain from apprehending the aforesaid persons for failure to wear crash helmet when driving a motorcycle.

This Order shall take fifteen 915) days after receipt of copies thereof by the Office of the National Administrative Register (ONAR), U.P. Law Center, Diliman, Quezon City and publication thereof in a newspaper of general nationwide circulation.

All Department Memorandum Orders, Circulars, and other administrative issuances in conflict with Order are hereby deemed revoked, amended or revised accordingly.
