RESUMPTION OF DEPLOYMENT OF HOUSEHOLD WORKERS TO THE MIDDLE EAST



Pursuant to Department Order No. 31, Series of 1996, following are the guidelines on the resumption of deployment of household workers to the Middle East.

1. Deployment shall resume to countries where hiring was temporarily suspended per POEA Memorandum Circular Nos. 37, 38 and 41, Series of 1996. Countries being referred to are Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Syria.

2. Only diplomats residing in and high government officials of the host country shall be allowed to hire household workers.

3. The following documents shall be required prior to accreditation and processing by POEA:
a. Special Power of Attorney authenticated by the Philippine Embassy/Consulate;

b. Manpower request and employment contract verified by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO); and

c. Other documents as may be required by the POEA and/or Philippine Embassy/Consulate.
4. The minimum salary of household workers shall be US$300 per month exclusive of food and accommodation.

All contracts verified/authenticated by the POLO prior to the effective date of Department Order No. 31 (Series of 1996) on December 01, 1996 shall still be processed by POEA until 31 December 1996.
