(NAR) VOL. 1 NO.4 / OCTOBER - DECEMBER 1990

[ PRC BOARD FOR DECK OFFICERS, February 23, 1990 ]

BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 04

The Board, in its meeting held today, had for consideration Joint Resolution No. 1, Series of 1989, of the Boards for Deck and Engine Officers, adopting the guidelines for the issuance of the Certificates of Competency to marine officers.

Upon closer scrutiny of page 3 thereof, the Board noticed a typographical error on the guidelines for Third Mate which reads as follows:

"(e)    For Third Mate, 18 months of Apprentice-Mate (Cadet) or Quartermaster (AB) or Ordinary Seaman on ocean-going vessels of 200 GRT or more, provided that the candidate has completed the Bachelor’s degree in Marine Transportation major in Nautical Science: Provided further that the 18-month requirement period shall take effect in the year 1990.” (Underscoring supplied.)

In view hereof, the Board resolved, as it hereby resolves, to correct the typographical error on the above-quoted lines by changing 18 to 12, the above provision to finally read as follows:

"(e)    For Third Mate, 12 months of Apprentice Mate (Cadet) or Quartermaster (AB) or Ordinary Seaman on ocean-going vessels of 200 GRT or more, provided that the candidate has completed the Bachelor’s degree in Marine Transportation major in Nautical Science: Provided further that the 12-month requirement period shall take effect in the year 1990."

The Board further resolved that the above correction be made on all original and duplicate copies of the said guidelines upon approval by the Commission.
