[ BAI MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 04, February 28, 2011 ]

LIFTING THE TEMPORARY BAN ON THE IMPORTATION OF POULTRY MEAT/PORK AND THEIR PRODUCTS, EGGS, MILK, GELATINE, AND PROCESSED ANIMAL PROTEINS ORIGINATING FROM GERMANY



WHEREAS, the European Commission – Directorate General for Trade has guaranteed, based on monitoring and control measures in place in the European Union, that no products contaminated with dioxin have entered the food or feed chain;

WHEREAS, the European Commission – Directorate General has further reassured, based on current and available information, that no contaminated food of animal origin has been exported to any Third Countries including the Philippines.

WHEREAS, based on the evaluation made of the Bureau of Animal Industry, the risk of contamination from importing poulty meat/pork and their products, eggs, milk, gelatin, and processed animal proteins  from Germany would be negligible;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, PROCESO J. ALCALA, Secretary of  the Department of Agriculture (DA), by the powers vested in me, do hereby lift the temporary ban on the importation of poultry meat/pork and their products, eggs, milk, gelatin and processed animal proteins from Germany.

All import transactions on the above products shall be in accordance with existing rules and regulations of the DA-BAI and the National Meat Inspection Services (NMIS).

All orders, rules and regulations or parts thereof, which are inconsistent with the provisions of this Order, are hereby repealed or amended accordingly.

This Order shall take effect immediately.
