ADDITIONAL MEASURES TO ENSURE THE SAFETY AND SECURITY DOMESTIC PASSENGER AND/OR CARGO SHIPS



In view of the recent incidents in the country and as part of our continuing effort to ensure the safety and security of our domestic passenger and/or cargo ships and the people and goods that they carry, Flag State Administration Advisory No. 018, series of 2001 dated 02 January 2001, is hereby reiterated.  All shipping companies/ship owners/operators are hereby directed to more strictly institute the following measures:

1.         Exercise extra vigilance at all entry points to their premises, passenger terminals and vessels.

2.         Check persons and/or passengers and their baggage entering the premises.  Entry should be denied to anyone who refuses to submit to a security check prior to entry into passenger terminals and embarkation to a ship.

3.         Immediately inform any of the following government agencies of any suspicious person(s)/activity(ies) movement(s) in your premises/ships and/or their immediate vicinity.

4.         Provide a bulletin board for each of your vessels posting therein all safety-related certificates.

5.         Post notices at strategic locations regarding the strict enforcement of security measures.

6.         Implement other safety precautionary measures as may be deemed necessary.

7.         Submit to the MARINA within thirty (30) days from date hereof measures undertaken by your company in compliance with this Advisory.
