(NAR) VOL. 16 NO. 3 / JULY - SEPTEMBER 2005

[ POEA ADVISORY NO. 13, S. 2005, August 25, 2005 ]

DEPLOYMENT OF OFWS TO SYRIA

Effective immediately and upon the advice of the Consulate General of the Syrian Republic, all overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who are classified as name hires (those who secured employment on their own) bound for Syria, must appear personally at the Consulate for stamping of the new sticker visa on their passports before they can be issued exit clearance by the POEA.

The worker must submit to the Consulate of Syria an employment contract authenticated by the Honorary Consul in Syria and verified by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Lebanon for this purpose. Recruitment agencies and representatives will not be allowed to file the visa application in behalf of the worker.

For workers-on-leave (Balik-Manggagawa) holding re-entry visas stamped on their passports, the Consulate of Syria will verify the validity of their re-entry visas and issue a corresponding certification on its validity before the issuance of the exit clearance by the POEA.

For the information and guidance of all concerned.

Adopted: 25 Aug. 2005
