SUSPENSION OF MANDATORY RFID TAGGING OF MOTORCYCLES

  1. Reference:

    1. DOTC DC 2009-06 dated May 6, 2009
    2. LTO MC ACL 2009-1199 dated August 7, 2009

  2. The mandatory RFID tagging of motorcycles scheduled to start on January 04, 2010 is hereby suspended and moved to February 15, 2010. Hence, registration of motorcycles without RFID Tags shall be allowed during the period of suspension. 3. However, ALL motor vehicles, including motorcycles that will not be tagged during the period of suspension shall be tagged on or before October 31, 2010.

  4. This Memorandum Circular is issued without prejudice to the Petition for Certiorari and Prohibition (with Application for Temporary Restraining Order and/or Preliminary Injunction) which is now pending before the Supreme Court entitled Bayan Muna Party List, et. al. vs. Department of Transportation and Communications, et. al., relative to the RFID Project.

  5. All previous issuances inconsistent herewith are hereby amended accordingly.

Adopted: 29 Dec. 2009
