(NAR) VOL. II NO. 3 / JULY - SEPTEMBER 1991
[ PRC RESOLUTION NO. 10, S. 1991, July 30, 1991 ]
BOARD OF CIVIL ENGINEERING
WHEREAS Sec. 4 of R.A. No. 544, as amended, empowers the Board of Civil Engineering to issue certificates of recognition to civil engineers already registered under this Act of advanced studies, research, and/or highly specialized training in any branch of civil engineering, subject to approval of the Secretary of Public Works and Communication;
WHEREAS under P.D. 223, Sec. 5 (c) thereof, the power of approval of the foregoing Board action has been vested to the Commission;
WHEREAS the Board has issued certificate of recognition to qualified Civil Engineers in the branches of civil engineering; structural, highway, hydraulics, civil engineering construction and civil engineering education;
WHEREAS the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Inc., per Resolution No. 3 (Series of 1991) thereof, has requested the Board to include Quantity Surveying, Transport Engineering, and Irrigation Engineering among the branches of Civil Engineering for the issuance of Certificates of Recognition to qualified and deserving Civil Engineers recommended by the Continuing Professional Education Committee (CPEC) of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Inc.;
WHEREAS the Board finds such request not objectionable, as it is within the ambit of the practice of civil engineering under Sec. 2 (a) of the R.A. No. 544, which embraces any other branches or work (not enumerated therein) requiring civil engineering knowledge and application; and
WHEREAS the bestowal of such recognition is a measure in consonance with the powers and function of the Commission and the Board under Sec. 5 (a) and Sec. 6 (a) of P.D. 223 to enhance the civil engineering profession and to maintain high professional, ethical, and technical standards thereof;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Board, hereby resolved, as it hereby so resolves, to include Quantity Surveying, Transport Engineering and Irrigation Engineering in the branches of Civil Engineering for the issuance of Certificates of Recognition to qualified and deserving Civil Engineers recommended by the Continuing Professional Education Committee (CPEC) of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Inc.
FURTHER resolved it is that the Board grant the certificate in the said branches of civil engineering in the light of the criteria to be set by the Board.
FINALLY resolved it is that the herein Resolution shall take effect upon approval by the Commission and after fifteen (15) days following the completion of the publication thereof in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.
