SEALING/RESEALING OF TAXIMETERS



After consultations with the taxi operators and the representatives of the different taxi operators and drivers associations, the Board hereby issues the following directives with the objective of providing better public service and better service to taxi operators and drivers:

    1. Only the Chassis Number stencil shall be required during the inspection of the unit.

    2. Operators, whose units are under repair, may file a Petition for Storage of Plates before the Board or any of its Regional Offices, which has jurisdiction over the operation of their units, so as to avoid the weekly penalty imposed by Memorandum Circular No. 2004-045, dated 21 December 2004. A filing fee in the amount of Two Hundred Sixty Pesos (PhP260.00) shall be charged. The Board's Technical Evaluation Division or the Regional Offices where the said Petition is filed shall be accountable for the plates surrendered for storage. The storage of plates shall be valid for a period of sixty (60) days and renewable upon filing of the same Petition.

    3. The Metro Manila Calibration and Sealing/Resealing Site shall be transferred to the Central Terminal located at Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) corner Quezon Boulevard. A minimal and reasonable entrance fee may be charged by the terminal management for the use, maintenance and security thereof.

    4. The Sealing Fee shall be increased to Forty Five Pesos (PhP45.00) for sedan vehicles and Sixty Pesos (PhP60.00) for Asian Utility Vehicles.

This Memorandum Circular takes effect on 01 May 2005 following the filing of three (3) copies hereof with the UP Law Center, pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 11, dated 09 October 1992.
