AMENDMENT OF FSAA NO. 57 ON THE DEPLOYMENT/DESIGNATION OF GOVERNMENT-COUNTERPART MARITIME MARSHALS ONBOARD PASSENGER/PASSENGER-CARGO SHIPS IN THE DOMESTIC TRADE



This is to advise all concerned, that Flag State Administration Advisory (FSAA) No. 57 is hereby amended, as follows:

1. The deployment/designation of Government-Counterpart Maritime Marshals in each passenger/passenger-cargo ships trading domestically shall be discretionary/optional on the part of shipping companies/ship owners/operators provided, however, that the following alternative/equivalent security measures are complied with:

    1.1 There shall be an adequate security measures within the passenger terminal premises, such as X-ray machines of K-9 dogs and detectors among others;

    1.2 All private security guards and designated company-maritime marshals onboard each passenger/passenger-cargo ships in the domestic trade shall undergo training on Ship Security Course;

    1.3 All ships concerned shall carry onboard a Security Plan which shall form part of the ship's emergency plan; and,

    1.4 The designation of Company-Maritime Marshals shall remain compulsory.

All other provisions of FSAA No. 57 shall remain in full force and effect.
