(NAR) VOL. 6 NO. 3 / JULY - SEPTEMBER 1995

[ CSC MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 13, S. 1995, July 03, 1995 ]

APPOINTMENT OF CAREER SERVICE PROFESSIONAL AND PD 907 ELIGIBLES TO TEACHER POSITIONS UNDER TEMPORARY STATUS

To forestall the chronic shortages of qualified public school teachers in certain areas of the country which may be aggravated by transitional difficulties with the transfer of the teacher examination and registration functions from the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to the Professional Regulation Commission, the CSC, under CSC Resolution No. 95-3980 dated July 3, 1995 has resolved to allow the appointment under temporary status of Career Service Professional and PD 907 eligibles in the absence of registered teacher eligibles to teaching positions provided that they have the following educational attainment:

1. Bachelor's degree in either Secondary Education or Elementary Education from a college or university of good standing;

2. Other degrees which are deemed equivalent to degrees in Secondary Education and Elementary Education as enumerated in the rules implementing the Magna Carta for Public School Teachers;

3. Any technical or professional degree with at least 18 units of credit in professional education courses.

Provided further that such temporary appointments will be for a period of one year only but which may be terminated sooner at the discretion of the appointing authority when qualified and willing teacher-eligibles become available for the position.

Please be guided accordingly.

Adopted: 03 July 1995
