[ MTC RESOLUTION NO. 1, S. 2010, March 05, 2010 ]
LIFTING OF THE MORATORIUM IN THE ACCREDITATION OF BASIC SAFETY TRAINING IN SELECTED REGIONS
WHEREAS, there is a need to lift the moratorium in the accreditation of Basic Safety Courses in view of the expanded need of maritime schools for additional facilities in basic safety training being part of the BSMT and MSMarE curriculum;
WHEREAS, based on a study, the demand for the basic safety training facilities of maritime schools in some regions has far exceeded the estimated training capacities of existing training providers;
WHEREAS, in some regions the average enrolment of students in maritime schools requiring training in basic safety is more than 10,000 but the training capacity of existing training center in these regions are way below the average enrollment;
WHEREAS, there are regions with existing maritime schools but no training providers where students could undergo training in basic safety;
WHEREAS, there is an imbalance in the number of training providers in basic safety training to the number of maritime schools in Regions I, II, IV (A and B), VI, VII, X and NCR;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council resolves as it is hereby resolved that the moratorium in Basic Safety Training shall be lifted in the following regions:
1. NCR | 5. Region VI |
2. Region I | 6. Region VII |
3. Region II | 7. Region X |
4. Region IV (A and B) |
This Resolution shall take effect fifteen (15) days after a copy of it is submitted to the U.P. Law Center and published in a newspaper of nationwide circulation.
