ADDITIONAL MEASURES TO ENSURE SAFETY AND SECURITY ONBOARD SHIP



In our continuing effort to ensure the safety and security of passengers and their baggages, as well as other cargoes onboard passenger-carrying ships, all concerned are hereby advised of the following additional measures being required for implementation:

    1. A “NO SMOKING” policy shall be strictly enforced onboard ships, except in the open deck areas and in enclosed areas, specifically designated as “SMOKING AREA”. The designated smoking areas shall be conspicuously marked and provided with corresponding ash tray/ash bin/fire extinguishers. In addition, the enclosed designated smoking areas must be provided with exhaust ventilation fan.

    2. The shipowner should provide onboard the ship a facilities for isolation/holding area for passengers, who have been observed/exhibited unusual/abnormal behavior, including those apprehended for illegal activity. The designated isolation/holding room should be locked and guarded for safety and security purposes during the duration of the trip until he/she has been handed over to the proper authorities at the port of destination.
