[ PRC BOARD OF METALLURGICAL ENGINEERING RESOLUTION NO. 04, S. 2005, November 24, 2005 ]

PROMULGATION OF THE REVISED SYLLABI FOR THE SUBJECTS IN THE METALLURGICAL ENGINEERING LICENSURE EXAMINATION, SUPERSEDING BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 01, SERIES OF 1994



WHEREAS, the Professional Regulation Commission issued these policies and directives on licensure examinations: (1) Memorandum Circular No. 8, Series of 1992, (2) Res. No. 265, Series of 1992, (3) Memorandum Circular No. 93-03, Series of 1993, and (4) Memorandum Circular No. 93-04, Series of 1993;

WHEREAS, in accordance with the foregoing policies and directives, the Board promulgated on February 28, 1995 Resolution No. 01, Series of 1994, “promulgation of the Syllabi for the subjects in Metallurgical Engineering Licensure examination;

WHEREAS, Sec. 18, Art. I of Presidential Decree No. 1536, known as the “Metallurgical Engineering Law of the Philippines”, states that the Metallurgical Engineering Licensure Examination shall cover questions related to the subjects given in the said examination;

WHEREAS, the same provision empowers the Board subject to approval by the Commission to modify such questions; and

WHEREAS, the Board has conducted a review of the prescribed syllabi and, in consultation with the academe, has found it necessary to revise the syllabi to distribute evenly the scope of items in the three different subjects in order to adopt them to the changing needs of the profession and industry;

NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the quasi-legislative (rule making) power under Sec. 9, Art. I of PD No. 1536, the Board RESOLVES, as it is hereby RESOLVED, to prescribe, adopt, and promulgate the revised syllabi for the subjects in Metallurgical Engineering Licensure Examination shown in this Resolution by superseding Board Res. No. 01, Series of 1994. The new syllabi shall be used in the licensure examination only after the lapse of six (6) months from effectivity of the herein Resolution.

This resolution shall take effect after fifteen (15) days following its full and complete publication in the Official Gazette or any newspaper of general circulation in the Philippines.

Let copy of this Resolution be widely disseminated through the deans of all schools, colleges, and universities offering the course of Metallurgical Engineering and the President of the Society of Metallurgical Engineers of the Philippines (SMEP) for circulation to all concerned.
