SETTING THE MAXIMUM SPEED LIMIT TO 60 KM/HR FOR ALL TYPES OF VEHICLES WHETHER PUBLIC OF PRIVATE INCLUDING MOTORCYCLES TRAVERSING DIOSDADO MACAPAGAL AVENUE, LOCATED IN THE CITIES OF PASAY AND PARÑAQUE



WHEREAS, the Diosdado Macapagal Avenue serves as a major corridor linking Metro Manila to and from the province of Cavite. It has a width of 35 meters and almost five kilometers (5 kms.) long highway with four (4) lanes per direction where the Department of Foreign Affairs and the SM Mall of Asia, the largest shopping mall in Asia, are situated.

WHEREAS, shopping centers and other establishments along Diosdado Macapagal Avenue proliferate and the volume of vehicles that traverse in the said thoroughfare contributed to the cause of high rates of vehicular and pedestrian accidents resulting to tragic lost of lives, limbs and properties especially during night time when the said avenue is used by drag racers;

WHEREAS, in view of the aforementioned circumstances, concerned citizens from the public and private sectors have strongly pleaded the government to adopt measures that would minimize if not totally eradicate the incidence of reckless and unlawful driving along Diosdado Macapagal Avenue;

WHEREAS, the Metro Manila Council after due deliberation in session duly assembled, recognized the urgent need to set the maximum speed limit to 60 km/hr for all types of vehicles whether public or private including motorcycles traversing Diosdado Macapagal Avenue, located in the cities of Pasay and Parañaque;

NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved as it is hereby resolved, pursuant to Section 6 of RA 7964, that the Council hereby sets the maximum speed limit to 60 km/hr for all types of vehicles whether public or private including motorcycles traversing Diosdado Macapagal Avenue, located in the cities of Pasay and Parañaque.

RESOLVED FINALLY, that the driver of any vehicle who shall violate this Regulation shall be meted with fines and penalties in the amount of TWO THOUSAND PESOS (P2.000.00) plus seminar, pursuant to Article XII Section 57 of Ordinance No. 3780, s. 2006 and Ordinance No. 05-04 (56) Series of 2004 otherwise known as the Traffic Coded the cities of Pasay and Parañaque, respectively.

This Regulation shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in two (2) newspapers of general circulation.
