AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CITY'S ANNUAL OBSERVANCE OF THE BULLYING PREVENTION AND AWARENESS MONTH OF QUEZON CITY ON THE MONTH OF OCTOBER AND EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER.

WHEREAS, the recent passage of Republic Act No. 10627 otherwise known as the Anti-Bullying Law, and Ordinance No. SP-2157, S-2012, or the Bullying Ordinance of Quezon City significantly aims to put an end to the alarming problem of bullying among students;

WHEREAS, it is necessary to increase community awareness about the impact and harmful effects of bullying among children;

WHEREAS, the City government plays a vital role in spearheading programs and projects in protecting the rights of every children and will embolden them to become productive members of the community;

WHEREAS, all Local Government Units, particularly our City Government, should give importance to the needs of this sector, through information dissemination and massive campaign in creating an environment where bullying is not tolerated.

NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF QUEZON CITY IN REGULAR SESSION ASSEMBLED:

SECTION 1. Every month of October every year shall be known as the "Bullying Prevention and Awareness Month of Quezon City." The city government through the Social Services and Development Department, in coordination with all public and private elementary and secondary schools, shall conduct an annual campaign and activity to raise awareness among students against bullying.

SECTION 2. The observance of the Bullying Prevention and Awareness Month of Quezon City shall include, but is not limited to:
Psychological Services

a. One-on-one Counseling

b. Peer group Counseling

c. Family Counseling

d. Organization of Students against Bullying

e. Awareness on Relevant Laws and legal matters
SECTION 3. The services mentioned above shall be delegated to the following school officers:
a. Psychological Services - Guidance Counselor of the School

b. Legal Service - School Attorney
If none is available, the Social Services and Development Department should provide one in coordination with other City Departments.

SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall take effect fifteen (15) days from its publication in a newspaper of general circulation.
