(NAR) VOL. 26 NO. 3/ JULY - SEPTEMBER 2015

[ POEA Advisory No. 26, August 05, 2015 ]

INCREASING NUMBER OF UNDOCUMENTED FILIPINO DOMESTIC WORKERS IN CHINA

Adopted: 05 August 2015
Date Filed: 16 September 2015

The Department of Foreign Affairs has reported the increasing number of undocumented Filipino domestic workers in China. According to the report, Filipino domestic workers who had finished their employment contract in Hong Kong and Macau enter the Mainland using tourist visas.

The public is strongly warned against entering China to work using tourist or business visa as these types of visas cannot be converted to work visa, which is a requirement for employment in China. Furthermore, the Chinese government restricts the employment of foreign domestic workers in the country.

Prospective applicants seeking employment in China are advised to take extra-precautionary measures to establish the authenticity of employment offers by verifying the job orders with the POEA through its website at www.poea.gov.ph and its hotlines at 722-11-44 and 722-11-55.

For the information of all concerned.
