(NAR) VOL. II NO. 4 / OCTOBER - DECEMBER 1991

[ POEA (DOLE) MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 66, November 21, 1991 ]

PROPOSED NEW IMMIGRATION POLICY OF NEW ZEALAND AND INCREASE IN IMMIGRATION FEES.

Per report from the Philippine Embassy in Wellington, the cost of work permits to New Zealand is now NZ$ 128 from NZ$ 117. Illegal immigrants are likewise given only 21 days to appeal removal warrants issued against them.

The Philippine Embassy further reports that the proposed new Immigration Policy of New Zealand now before the Parliament provides for a NZ$ 2,000 fine for employers who employ aliens unlawfully. Under the present law only employers who knowingly employ people without relevant work permits were liable for prosecution.

In this connection, agencies are hereby enjoined to help disseminate/inform the workers that they recruit and deploy to New Zealand of this new ruling.
