[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 891, June 19, 1953 ]

AN ACT APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES DURING THE PERIOD FROM JULY FIRST, NINETEEN HUNDRED AND FIFTY-TWO TO JUNE THIRTIETH, NINETEEN HUNDRED AND FIFTY-THREE, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.



Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as may be necessary, are appropriated out of any funds in the Philippine Treasury not otherwise appropriated for the period from July first, nineteen hundred and fifty-two to June thirtieth, nineteen hundred and fifty-three, for the purposes specified hereunder:

ORDINARY EXPENDITURES
A.—CONGRESS OF THE PHILIPPINES
(2) HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
I.—Salaries and Wages
1.
For other services, including transportation and additional secretarial services for the Members of the House of Representatives or expenses incurred by direction of the Speaker
P75,000.00
2.
For supplementary force that may be employed at any time in the discretion of the Speaker, including additional compensation for per diems to the military and police attaches of the Speaker
P75,000.00

II.—Sundry Expenses

1.
For payment of the cash commutation of the accumulated vacation and/or sick leaves of secretarial and clerical personnel of the Members of the House of Representatives

SEC. 2. The provisions of Republic Act Numbered Eight hundred and sixteen to the contrary notwithstanding, any savings from the appropriations authorized in the said Act for the Department of Justice and the Department of National Defense may be used to cover the following additional expenses of said departments, respectively, not exceeding the amounts specified hereunder:

SEC. 3. The special and general provisions of Republic Act Numbered Eight hundred and sixteen are hereby made applicable to the appropriations provided in this Act: Provided, That no portion of the different items of the appropriations contained in this Act shall be transferred to any other item.

SEC. 4. Effective date.—This Act shall take effect as of July first, nineteen hundred and fifty-two.
