[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 1890, June 22, 1957 ]

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE AUDITOR GENERAL TO REORGANIZE THE GENERAL AUDITING OFFICE AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.



Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. The Auditor General is hereby authorize to reorganize the General Auditing Office including its units in the corporations owned or controlled by the Government within one year from the date of approval of this Act.

SEC. 2. The reorganization of the General Auditing Office shall be done within the limits of its total appropriations, including savings, in force at the time of such reorganization: Provided, That the appropriation for a auditing unit in the government-owned or controlled corporations shall be used only for that unit.

SEC. 3. The Auditor General may abolish or consolidate departments, divisions, sections and units and create new ones, redistribute functions and personnel, consolidate or split items, standardize salaries and do such other things as he may deem necessary to carry out the purpose of this Act: Provided, That no permanent employee already in the service of the General Auditing Office on the approval of this Act shall be laid off or his salary reduced account of such reorganization.

SEC. 4. The reorganization to be made pursuant provisions of this Act shall be subject to the approval of the President of the Philippines and reported to the Congress not later than thirty days from the date it becomes effective. It shall be valid and subsisting unless Congress shall provide otherwise in its regular session next following the effectivity of such reorganization.

SEC. 5. All laws or parts of laws which are or may be in conflict with any of the provision of this Act are hereby repealed.

SEC. 6. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
