[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 1240, June 07, 1955 ]

AN ACT FURTHER AMENDING SECTION ONE HUNDRED SEVEN OF COMMONWEALTH ACT NUMBERED ONE HUNDRED FORTY-ONE, BY PROVIDING THAT WHEN THE POWER TO SIGN PATENTS OR CERTIFICATES FOR LAND GRANTED UNDER SAID ACT IS DELEGATED BY THE PRESIDENT TO THE SECRETARY AND UNDER-SECRETARY OF AGRICULTURE AND NATURAL RESOURCES, SUCH PATENTS OR CERTIFICATES SHALL BEAR THE OFFICIAL SEAL OF THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND NATURAL RESOURCES INSTEAD OF THE GREAT SEAL OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES.



Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. Section one hundred seven of Commonwealth Act Numbered One hundred forty-one, as amended by Republic Act Numbered Eleven hundred seventy-two, is amended to read as follows:
"SEC. 107. All patents or certificates for land granted under this Act shall be prepared in the Bureau of Lands and shall be issued in the name of the Government of the Republic of the Philippines under the signature of the President of the Philippines: Provided, however, That the Resident of the Philippines may delegate to the Under-Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources the power to sign patents or certificates covering lands not exceeding one hundred forty-four hectares in area, and to the Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources the power to sign patents or certificates covering lands exceeding one undred forty-four hectares, in area, in which case such patents or certificates shall bear the official seal of the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources instead of the great seal of the Republic of the Philippines.    Such patents or certificates shall be effective only for the purposes denned in section one hundred and twenty-two the Land Registration Act, and actual conveyance of the land shall be effected only as provided in said section."
SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
