H. No. 18966 / 66 OG No. 13, 3129 (March 30, 1970)

[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 5987, August 04, 1969 ]

AN ACT AMENDING REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED FIFTY-ONE HUNDRED SIXTY-FIVE BY STANDARDIZING THE SALARIES OF OFFICIALS IN THE BUREAU OF PUBLIC WORKS.





Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. Section one of Republic Act Numbered Fifty-one hundred sixty-five is hereby amended to read as follows:

"SECTION 1. Any existing law to the contrary notwithstanding, salaries of the following positions in the Bureau of Public Works are hereby fixed as follows:

"(a) Director, at eighteen thousand pesos per annum— Range 67;
"(b) Assistant Director, at seventeen thousand one hundred pesos per annum— Range 65;
"(c) Chiefs of specialized technical or engineering divisions (Architecture, Flood Control and Drainage, Harbor Dredging and Reclamation, Mechanical-Electrical, Planning and Programming, Ports and Harbors and Water Resources) and regional supervisors (for Northern Luzon, Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, Greater Manila Metropolitan Area, Visayas and Mindanao), at sixteen thousand two hundred pesos per annum— Range 64; and assistant chiefs of the above specialized divisions in the central office, assistant regional supervisors and district engineer III, at fifteen thousand six hundred pesos per annum— Range 63; and district engineer II, at fourteen, thousand four hundred pesos per annum— Range 61;
"(d) Chiefs of other divisions (Accounting, Administrative and Budget and Fiscal) in the central office, at thirteen thousand two hundred pesos per annum— Range 60;
"(e) Chiefs of branches under the specialized technical or engineering divisions in the central office enumerated under subparagraph (c), including the Chief of the Internal Audit Service, and flood control district engineers, at thirteen thousand two hundred pesos per annum— Range 60; district engineers I, and public works in-charge in city engineering offices at eleven thousand four hundred pesos per annum— Range 57;
"(f) Assistant chiefs of branches under the specialized technical divisions in the central office under subparagraph (c), assistant division chiefs of other divisions enumerated under subparagraph (d), Assistant Chief of Internal Audit Service, at ten thousand eight hundred pesos per annum— Range 56; and chiefs of sections under the branches of the specialized technical division under subparagraph (c), at ten thousand two hundred pesos per annum— Range 55;
"(g) Chief of branches in other divisions under sub-paragraph (d), at nine thousand six hundred pesos per annum— Range 53; statisticians I under the branches of the specialized technical or engineering divisions under subparagraph (c), and assistant chiefs of branches in the other divisions under subparagraph (d), at eight thousand four hundred pesos per annum— Range 50."


SEC. 2. Section two of the same Act is hereby amended to read as follows:

"SEC. 2. Such sums as are necessary to implement the adjustment of salaries provided for by this Act in the fiscal year nineteen hundred sixty-nine shall be paid out of any savings in the appropriation of the Bureau of Public Works. Thereafter, the sums necessary for the purpose shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act."


SEC. 3. The incumbents of the positions whose salaries are herein standardized shall automatically be entitled to the benefits hereof without the need of extending another appointment.

SEC. 4. All Acts, executive orders, administrative orders, proclamations, rules and regulations, or parts thereof, inconsistent with this Act are repealed or amended accordingly.

SEC. 5. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
