[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 4049, June 18, 1964 ]

AN ACT CONVERTING BATANES HIGH SCHOOL IN THE PROVINCE OF BATANES INTO A NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL, TO BE KNOWN AS BATANES NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL, AND AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS THEREFOR.





Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. The Batanes High School in the Province of Batanes is hereby converted into a national high school, to be known as Batanes National High School. A comprehensive curriculum of purely academic course shall be offered.

SEC. 2. The Secretary of Education is hereby empowered to reorganize said school accordingly.

SEC. 3. All assets, equipment, properties and liabilities of the said Batanes High School shall be transferred to the Batanes National High School, and any provision of law to the contrary notwithstanding, the tuition fees of students shall accrue to the funds of Batanes National High School for its operation and maintenance in addition to the sums appropriated by this Act and those included in the annual General Appropriations Act.

SEC. 4. The sum of one hundred thousand pesos is hereby authorized to be appropriated out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the conversion, operation and maintenance of said school during the fiscal year nineteen hundred sixty-five. Thereafter, such sums as may be needed for its operation and maintenance shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.

SEC. 5. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
