AN ACT TO AMEND REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED FORTY HUNDRED SEVENTY-FIVE, ENTITLED "AN ACT GRANTING TEODORO N. ROMASANTA A TEMPORARY PERMIT TO ESTABLISH, MAINTAIN AND OPERATE RADIOTELEPHONE AND RADIOTELEGRAPH COASTAL STATIONS, WITH THE CORRESPONDING RELAY STATIONS AND PUBLIC FIXED AND PUBLIC BASED AND LAND MOBILE STATIONS FOR THE TRANSMISSION AND RECEPTION OF RADIOTELEPHONE AND RADIOTELEGRAPH COMMUNICATIONS WITHIN THE PHILIPPINES."



Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. Section one of Republic Act Numbered Forty hundred seventy-five is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SECTION 1. Subject to the provisions of the Consti­tution, as well as of Act Numbered Three thousand eight hundred forty-six, entitled 'An Act providing for the regulation of radio stations and radio communications in the Philippine Islands, and for other purposes;' Act Numbered Three thousand nine hundred ninety-seven, known as the Radio Broadcasting Law; Commonwealth Act Numbered One hundred forty-six, known as the Public Service Act, and their amendments, and other applicable laws, not inconsistent with this Act, there is hereby granted to Teodoro N. Romasanta, Inc., his successors, or assigns a temporary permit to establish, main­tain and operate radio stations for radio broadcasting, at such places as the Secretary of Public Works and Communications may approve, radio stations for the transmission and reception of wireless messages on radio­telegraph and/or radiotelephone, in the foreign and domestic public fixed point-to-point, land based, land mobile, aeronautical, communication service to individual firms and/or companies within their respective internal framework and coastal marine service with the correspond­ing relay stations and including the reception and trans­mission of radioteletype, radiophoto, facsimile, paging, pictures, advertisements through space satellites and/or such other types of emission from or to foreign countries and within the Philippines and with vessels at sea and aircraft over the air, irrespective of whether such vessels and aircraft are within or without the Philippines."
SEC. 2. The same Act is hereby amended by inserting between Sections thirteen and fourteen thereof a new section to be known as Section thirteen-A which shall read as follows:
"SEC. 13-A. In consideration of the franchise and rights hereby granted, the grantee shall pay a franchise tax equal to three per centum of the gross earnings derived from his radio station and stations for radio tele­communications."
SEC. 3. The title of the same Act is hereby amended to read as follows:
"An Act granting Teodoro N, Romasanta, Inc., a tem­porary permit to establish, maintain and operate radio stations for radio broadcasting, stations for domestic and international telecommunications."
SEC. 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
