[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 3819, June 22, 1963 ]

AN ACT CREATING THE MANILA COMMISSION FOR FIRE VICTIMS AND AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS THEREFOR.





Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. There is created under the Office of the President a commission for fire victims in the City of Manila, to be known as the Manila Commission for Fire Victims. It shall be composed of the Executive Secretary, as chairman, a representative of the Red Cross and a representative of the Social Welfare Administration, as members. The chairman and members of the said commission shall render service without additional compensation. The said commission shall have such subordinate personnel as may be necessary.

SEC. 2. The said commission shall have the function of granting and distributing relief to Filipino fire victims in the City of Manila, and it shall issue such rules and regulations as may be necessary to carry out the purposes of this Act.

SEC. 3. The sum of twenty million pesos is authorized to be appropriated, out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for relief to Filipino fire victims in the City of Manila for the fiscal years nineteen hundred sixty-three and nineteen hundred sixty-four, and for the operating expenses of the commission for the fiscal year nineteen  hundred sixty-four.

SEC. 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
