[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 3725, June 22, 1963 ]

AN ACT PROVIDING FOR A LONGEVITY PAY TO ENLISTED MEN OF THE ARMED FORCES OF THE PHILIPPINES, AMENDING FOR THE PURPOSE SECTION ONE AND THE TITLE OF REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED ELEVEN HUNDRED THIRTY-FOUR, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR.





Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. Section one of Republic Act Numbered Eleven hundred thirty-four, as amended, is further amended to read as follows:

"SECTION 1. Hereafter, each officer or enlisted man of the Armed Forces of the Philippines shall receive in addition to his monthly base pay longevity pay equivalent to ten per centum of the monthly base pay authorized for his grade for each five years of faithful and efficient service heretofore or hereafter rendered as an officer and/or enlisted man of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and of recognized guerrilla units, such additional pay to be compounded every five years: Provided, That the total amount of longevity pay shall not exceed fifty per centum of the soldier's monthly base pay as prescribed by law: Provided, further, That payment of back longevity pay to officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines for service rendered by them during the period from January first, nineteen hundred thirty-three to June fifteen, nine-teen hundred forty-eight, be made from the savings acquired from the yearly appropriations of the Armed Forces of the Philippines: Provided, however, That nothing in this section shall be construed as authorizing payment of any back longevity pay to enlisted men for any period of services heretofore rendered."


SEC. 2. The title of the same Act is amended to read as follows:

"An Act to provide for longevity pay to officers and enlisted men of the Armed forces of the Philippines."


SEC. 3. The sum of eighteen million pesos, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated, out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to carry into effect the provisions of this Act.

SEC. 4. All laws or parts thereof inconsistent with the provisions of this Act are repealed or modified accordingly.

SEC. 5. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
