[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 9016, February 28, 2001 ]

AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE COMPOSITION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF MUNTINLUPA, AMENDING FOR THIS PURPOSE SECTION 11 OF REPUBLIC ACT NO. 7926, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF MUNTINLUPA



Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. Section 11 of Republic Act No. 7926, otherwise known as the Charter of the City of Muntinlupa, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SEC. 11. The Sangguniang Panlungsod. - The sangguniang panlungsod, the legislative body of the City, shall be composed of the city vice mayor who shall be the presiding officer, eight (8) councilors per district who shall compose the regular sanggunian members elected by popular vote, the president of the city chapter of the liga ng mga barangay, the president of the panlungsod na pederasyon ng mga sangguniang kabataan, and the sectoral representatives, as members.  In the local elections of May 2001, the qualified voters of the City of Muntinlupa shall already vote for the eight (8) members per district of the sangguniang panlungsod, as mandated under this Act.

SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect immediately after its publication in at least two (2) newspapers of general circulation.

This Act which originated is a consolidation of House Bill No. 11969 and Senate Bill No. 2253 was finally passed by the House of Represenatives and the Senate on February 8, 2001.
