[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 10171, July 19, 2012 ]

AN ACT REAPPORTIONING THE PROVINCE OF PALAWAN INTO THREE (3) LEGISLATIVE DISTRICTS



Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. The Province of Palawan is hereby reapportioned into three (3) legislative districts to commence in the next national and local elections after the effectivity of this Act, each district to be composed of the following:

(a) First Legislative District. – The municipalities that comprise the current First Legislative District of the Province of Palawan shall remain without any change in its composition, to wit:

(1) Agutaya;

(2) Araceli;

(3) Busuanga;

(4) Cagayancillo;

(5) Coron;

(6) Cuyo;

(7) Culion;

(8) Dumaran;

(9) El Nido;

(10) Linapacan;

(11) Magsaysay;

(12) Roxas;

(13) San Vicente;

(14) Taytay;and

(15) Kalayaan.

(b) Second Legislative District. – The Second Legislative District of the Province of Palawan shall be composed of the following municipalities:

(1) Balabac;

(2) Batarasa;

(3) Brooke’s Point;

(4) Narra;

(5) Quezon;

(6) Rizal; and

(7) Sofronio Española.

(c) Third Legislative District. – The Third Legislative District of the Province of Palawan shall be composed of the City of Puerto Princesa and the Municipality of Aborlan.

SEC. 2. Incumbent Representatives. – The incumbent Representatives of the Province of Palawan shall continue to represent their respective districts until the new Representatives shall have been elected and qualified.

SEC. 3. Rules and Regulations. – The Commission on Elections shall issue the necessary rules and regulations to implement this Act.

SEC. 4. Repealing Clause. – All laws, rules and regulations which are inconsistent with this Act are hereby repealed, amended or modified accordingly.

SEC. 5. Effectivity. – This Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in at least two (2) newspapers of general circulation.

This Act which originated in the House of Representatives was finally passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate on January 24, 2012 and June 4, 2012, respectively.
