[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 8829, August 22, 2000 ]

AN ACT CONVERTING THE CALAWAG BARANGAY HIGH SCHOOL IN BARANGAY CALAWAG, MUNICIPALITY OF TAYTAY, PROVINCE OF PALAWAN, INTO A NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL TO BE KNOWN AS CALAWAG NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL, PROVIDING FOR ITS FUNDING AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES



Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. The Calawag Barangay High School in Barangay Calawag, Municipality of Taytay, Province of Palawan, is hereby converted into a national high school to be known as the Calawag National High School.

SEC. 2. All assets, immovable and movable, and records of the Calawag Barangay High School, as well as its liabilities or obligations, are hereby transferred to the Calawag National High School: Provided, however, That the positions, rights and security of tenure of academic and nonacademic personnel who choose to remain and serve in the new school shall not be impaired.

SEC. 3. The amount necessary to carry out the provisions of this Act shall be included in the General Appropriations Act of the year following its enactment into law and thereafter.

SEC. 4. The Department of Education, Culture and Sports shall promulgate the necessary rules and regulations for the effective implementation of the provisions of this Act.

SEC. 5. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.

This Act which originated in the House of Representatives was finally passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate on August 18, 1999 and June 8, 2000,  respectively.
