[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 4669, June 18, 1966 ]

AN ACT SEPARATING THE SUBPROVINCE OF CAMIGUIN FROM THE PROVINCE OF MISAMIS ORIENTAL AND ESTABLISHING IT AS AN INDEPENDENT PROVINCE.



Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. The Subprovince of Camiguin is hereby declared separated from the Province of Misamis Oriental and constituted into a separate and independent Province of Camiguin.

SEC. 2. The present territory of the Subprovince of Camiguin shall be the territory of the Province of Camiguin to established, and its capital shall be the Municipality of Mambajao.  The provisions of the Administrative Code and other laws, insofar as they are applicable to a regularly organized province shall apply to the government and operation of said province and to the election, appointment and remuneration of the officers thereof.

SEC. 3. The elective provincial officials of the new Province of Camiguin shall be elected at the general election or local officials in November, nineteen hundred sixty-seven.

SEC. 4. The Province of Camiguin shall have a Representative in the House of Representatives who shall be enacted in the general election for such office in November, nineteen hundred sixty-nine: Provided, That the present Representative of the Province of Misamis Oriental shall, during his term of office as Representative, continue to represent the Province of Camiguin.

SEC. 5. The funds and obligations and the property Of all kinds owned by and/or to be assigned to the Sub-province of Camiguin shall, upon the establishment of the new Province of Camiguin, become the property of and/or be assigned to the latter.

SEC. 6. The new province shall commence its corporate existence upon the election and assumption of office of the officials mentioned in Section three hereof.

SEC. 7. All Acts or parts of Acts inconsistent herewith are repealed.

SEC. 8. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
