[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 4157, June 20, 1964 ]

AN ACT STANDARDIZING THE SALARIES OF HIGH-WAY ENGINEERING DISTRICT AUDITORS AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR.



Be it enacted by the Senate, and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. Any provision of law to the contrary notwithstanding, highway engineering district auditors shall receive salaries at the rate equivalent to two grades lower than the salaries of their respective district or city engineers of the engineering districts to which they are appointed as resident auditors. For purposes of this Act, one salary grade shall be fifty pesos per month. Auditors who are designated as ex-officio auditors of government offices, agencies or instrumentalities other than the high-way engineering districts shall be entitled to an additional compensation of sixty pesos per month chargeable and prorated among the lump sums appropriated for such additional offices placed under their respective audit jurisdictions.

SEC. 2. The sum of five hundred thousand pesos or so much thereof as may be necessary to defray the increases in salaries arising from the standardization herein provided, is hereby appropriated out of the Highway Special Fund provided for under Republic Act Numbered Nine hundred seventeen, to carry into effect the provisions of this Act, and such amount as may be found needed for this purpose in, subsequent years shall hereafter be included annually in the General Appropriations Act.

SEC. 3. The incumbents to the positions above referred to at the time of the effectivity of this Act shall receive the salary adjustments herein provided without the necessity of any new appointments.

SEC. 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
