[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 11040, June 29, 2018 ]

AN ACT DECLARING APRIL 27 OF EVERY YEAR AS A SPECIAL WORKING PUBLIC HOLIDAY THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY AND A SPECIAL NONWORKING HOLIDAY IN THE CITY OF LAPU-LAPU, PROVINCE OF CEBU, TO COMMEMORATE THE VICTORY OF LAPU-LAPU AND HIS MEN OVER THE SPANIARDS LED BY FERDINAND MAGELLAN IN THE HISTORIC BATTLE OF MACTAN ON APRIL 27, 1521, TO BE KNOWN AS LAPU-LAPU DAY OR ADLAW NI LAPU-LAPU



Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. Lapu-Lapu Day.- The twenty-seventh day of April of every year is hereby declared as a special working public holiday throughout the country and a special nonworking holiday in the City of Lapu-Lapu, Province of Cebu, to commemorate the victory of Lapu-Lapu and his men over the Spaniards in the historic Battle of Mactan on April 27, 1521, to be known as Lapu-Lapu Day or Adlaw ni Lapu-Lapu.

SEC. 2. Repealing Clause.- All laws, decrees, orders, rules and regulations or other issuances or parts thereof inconsistent with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed or modified accordingly.

SEC. 3. Effectivity.-This Act shall take effect after (15) days following the completion of its publication either in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation in the Philippines.

This Act which is a consolidation of Senate Bill No. 108 and the House Bill No. 6782 was passed by the Senate and the House of Representatives on March 20, 2018 and March 21, 2018, respectively.
