[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 777, June 20, 1952 ]

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE OFFICERS AND ENLISTED MEN OF THE PHILIPPINE EXPEDITIONARY FORCE TO ACCEPT AWARDS, DECORATIONS OR CITATIONS CONFERRED BY THE GOVERNMENT OF ANY OF THE MEMBER NATIONS OF THE UNITED NATIONS ORGANIZATION.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representative of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. Any officer or enlisted man of the Philippine Expeditionary Force provided for in Republic Act Numbered Five hundred seventy-three shall be and is hereby authorized to accept awards, decorations or citations conferred by or under the authority of the Government of any of the member nations of the United Nations Organization on account of meritorious or outstanding performance of military duty in the service of the United Nations, and to wear the medal, ribbon, bar or other device signifying the award, decoration or citation.

SEC. 2. The fact that the person entitled to the award decoration or citation has ceased to be a member of the Philippine Expeditionary Force, or is no longer serving with United Nations forces, shall not be held to prevent his acceptance of a foreign award, decoration or citation provided that the act, deed or service justifying it was performed while he was serving with the United Nations military forces engaged in the enforcement of United Nations policies, orders or sanctions. If an individual dies before the foreign award, decoration or citation is accepted by him, the same may be accepted on his behalf by any of his legal heirs.

SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.

Approved, June 21, 1952.
