[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 11671, April 01, 2022 ]

AN ACT CREATING A BARANGAY TO BE KNOWN AS BARANGAY LA MEDALLA IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF PIODURAN, PROVINCE OF ALBAY



Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. Creation of Barangay La Medalla. - The Sitio of La Medalla is hereby separated from Barangay Caratagan in the Municipality of Pioduran, Province of Albay, and constituted into a distinct and independent barangay to be known as Barangay La Medalla.

SEC. 2. Territorial Boundaries. - The territorial boundaries of Barangay La Medalla are hereby described as follows:

"Bounded by the following barangays of the Municipality of Pioduran: on the North by Barangay Flores; on the Northeast by Barangay Binodegahan; on the Southeast by Barangay Caratagan; on the Southwest by Barangay Banawan; on the West by Barangay Marigondon; and on the Norhtwest by Barangay Panganiran.

SEC. 3. Conduct and Supervision of Plebiscite. - The plebiscite conducted and supervised by the Commission on Election (COMELEC) in Barangay La Medalla, pursuant to Provincial Ordinance No. 09-93 dated July 1, 2991 and approved on August 9, 1993 by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of the Province of Albay, which ratified the creation of Barangay La Medalla as proclaimed by the Provincial Board of Canvassers on November 21, 1993, shall serve as substantial compliance with the plebiscite requirement under Section 10 of Republic Act No. 7160, as amended, otherwise known as the "Local Government Code of 1991".

SEC. 4. Incumbent Barangay Officials. - The incumbent barangay officials of Barangay La Medalla shall continue to hold office until such time that their successors have been duly elected and qualified.

SEC. 5. Public Infrastructure and Facilities. - All public infrastructure and facilities existing therein at the time of the approval of this Act are hereby transferred without cost or compensation to and shall be administered by the new barangay.

SEC. 6. Internal Revenue Allotment Shares. - Barangay La Medalla shall be entitled to Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) shares pursuant to Section 285 of the Local Government Code of 1991, as amended.

SEC. 7. Effectivity. - This Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.
