[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 11079, September 27, 2018 ]

AN ACT MANDATING THE INTEGRATION OF THE MAASIN CITY COLLEGE INTO THE SOUTHERN LEYTE STATE UNIVERSITY (SLSU) AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR



Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. The Maasin City College in Maasin City, Southern Leyte is hereby integrated into the Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) and shall be known as the Southern Leyte State University - Maasin City Campus.

SEC. 2. All assets, real and personal, personnel and records of the Maasin City College, as well as liabilities or obligations, are hereby transferred to the SLSU. The positions, rights, and security of tenure of faculty members and personnel employed at the Maasin City College under existing personnel employed at the Maasin City College under existing laws prior to the integration into the SLSU shall be respected.

All parcels of land belonging to the government occupied by the Maasin City College are hereby declared to be the property of the SLSU and shall be titles under its name: Provided, That should the SLSU cease to exist or be abolished or would no longer need such parcels of land aforementioned, the same shall revert to the local government units (LGUs) concerned.

SEC. 3. The amount necessary to carry out the initial implementation of this Act shall be charged against the current year's funding of the Maasin City College provided by the City of Maasin, Southern Leyte. The City shall continue to provide the same funding to the SLSU - Maasin City Campus until such time that its full funding requirements is included in the annual General Appropriations Act.

SEC. 4. Within sixty (60) days after the effectivity of this Act, the Commission on Higher Education and the SLSU shall promulgate the necessary rules and regulations to implement this Act.

SEC. 5. This Act shall effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in any newspaper of general circulation.
