[ Act No. 1912, May 19, 1909 ]

AN ACT AMENDING SECTION TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY-TWO OF ACT NUMBERED THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-FIVE, ENTITLED "AN ACT TO CONSTITUTE THE CUSTOMS SERVICE OF THE PHILIPPINE ARCHIPELAGO AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE ADMINISTRATION THEREOF," BY PROVIDING A LONGER PERIOD DURING WHICH MERCHANDISE MAY REMAIN IN BONDED WAREHOUSES.

By authority of the United States, be it enacted by the Philippine Legislature, that:

SECTION  1.  Section two hundred and fifty-two of Act  Numbered Three hundred and fifty-five, entitled "An Act to constitute the customs service of the Philippine Archipelago and to provide for the administration thereof," is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SEC. 252. Merchandise duly entered for warehouse may remain in bonded warehouses for a period of two years from the time of arrival, which period may lie further extended for not more than one year by the Insular Collector whenever sufficient reasons for such extension are presented to him.  Merchandise not withdrawn at the completion of the prescribed period shall be sold at auction by the Collector."
SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
