[ Act No. 1894, May 15, 1909 ]

AN ACT TO AMEND ACT NUMBERED THREE HUNDRED AND NINE, ENTITLED ''AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE COMPULSORY VACCINATION OF THE INHABITANTS OF THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS," SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE INOCULATION OF ANY HUMAN BEING WITH SMALLPOX VIRUS SHALL BE UNLAWFUL.

By authority of the United States, be it enacted by the Philippine Legislature, that:

SECTION 1. Section eight of Act Numbered Three Hundred and nine, entitled "An Act providing for the compulsory vaccination of the inhabitants of the Philippine Islands," is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SEC  8.  Presidents of municipal boards of health, public vaccinators, and all other persons authorized to vaccinate against smallpox under the provisions of this Act, shall furnish each person successfully vaccinated by them a certificate to the effect that he has been so vaccinated, setting forth the date of the vaccination, the number of marks made, and their location, and shall also record this information in a book to be kept by them for that purpose, for each municipality, which  hook, in case of their death or removal from other, shall he deposited with the secretary of the municipality: Provided, That the inoculation of any human being with smallpox virus shall be inocolated, directly or indirectly, with smallpox lymph:  Provided further,That any   person  convicted  of performing ,or practicing such inoculation shall he punished by a fine of not more than two hundred pesos or by imprisonment for not more than six months, or both, in the discretion of the court."
SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
