[ Act No. 1480, April 24, 1906 ]

AN ACT AMENDING SECTION THREE HUNDRED AND ELEVEN OF ACT NUMBERED THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-FIVE, KNOWN AS "THE PHILIPPINE CUSTOMS ADMINISTRATIVE ACT," AS AMENDED, SO AS TO ENABLE COURTS OF JUSTICE TO IMPOSE AN ALTERNATIVE PENALTY OF IMPRISONMENT NOT EXCEEDING SIX MONTHS IN CASES OF CONVICTION FOR OFFENSES NAMED IN SAID SECTION.

By authority of the United States, be it enacted by the Philippine Commission, that:

SECTION 1. Section three hundred and cloven of Act Numbered Three hundred and fifty-five, known as "The Philippine Customs Administrative Act," as amended by section sixteen of Act Numbered Twelve hundred and thirty-five, is hereby further amended by adding at the end thereof the following word's:
"And provided further. That in case of conviction under this section the court may impose not only the fine provided by the rules and regulations, but also, in its discretion, may impose an alternative penalty of imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months."
SEC. 2. The public good requiring the speedy enactment of this bill, the passage of the same is hereby expedited in accordance with section two of "An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws,"' passed September twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred.

SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
