[ Act No. 1325, April 14, 1905 ]

AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE AMENDMENT OF PARAGRAPH SEVEN OF PART TWO OF ORDINANCE NUMBERED FORTY-FOUR OF THE CITY OF MANILA, ENACTED IN PURSUANCE OF ACT NUMBERED FOUR HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-FOUR OF THE PHILIPPINE COMMISSION, SO AS TO EXTEND THE TIME WITHIN WHICH THE CONDITIONS MENTIONED THEREIN SHALL HE COMPLIED WITH.

By authority of the United States, be it enacted by the Philippine Commission, that: 

SECTION 1. The Municipal Board of the city of Manila shall amend paragraph numbered seven of Part Two of Ordinance Numbered Forty-four, enacted in pursuance of Act Numbered Four hundred and eighty-four of the Philippine Commission, by inserting in lieu of the word "twenty" in the sixth line of said paragraph the word "thirty-two," so that said paragraph shall read as follows:
"PAR. 7. The grantee shall begin the construction of the system within the city of Manila within six months from the date of the granting of the franchise, and shall complete the construction of so much of the system as shall be coextensive with the lines of the street railway to be constructed under Part One hereof, and commence the operation of the same within thirty-two months thereafter, unless prevented by act of God, or the public enemy, usurped or military power, martial law, riot, civil commotion, or inevitable cause. The failure of the grantee to comply with the conditions of this paragraph shall render the franchise in this part described liable to forfeiture."
SEC. 2. Nothing in this Act contained shall be construed as granting an extension of the time provided by paragraph twenty-one of Part One of said Ordinance Numbered Forty-four within which the Manila Electric Railroad and Light Company shall complete the construction of its road and commence the operation of the same.

SEC. 3. The amendment to Ordinance Numbered Forty-four herein directed to be made by the Municipal Board shall be enacted upon the tiling by the Manila Electric Railroad and Light Company with the Executive Secretary of the Philippine Islands of its acceptance in writing of the terms of the foregoing Act.

SEC. 4. The public good requiring the speedy enactment of this bill, the passage of the same is hereby expedited in accordance with section two of "An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws," passed September twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred.

SEC. 5. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
