[ Act No. 3984, December 03, 1932 ]
AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE SALE OF THE LANDS, BUILDINGS AND OTHER IMPROVEMENTS OF BILIBID PRISON AND THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A NEW INSULAR PRISON OUTSIDE THE CITY OF MANILA.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Legislature assembled and by the authority of the same:
SECTION 1. Whenever in his opinion the public interests will be promoted thereby, the Governor-General, upon the recommendation of the Secretary of Justice and the Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources, .may authorize the sale of the lands, buildings and other improvements of Bilibid Prison for such amount and upon such terms and conditions as may be approved by the Council of State, and execute the necessary deed or deeds of conveyance: Provided, That from the savings of the Bureau of Prisons there shall be paid to the San Lazaro Investment Fund the sum of one hundred seventy-nine thousand two hundred and sixty-five pesos within fifteen years from the date of said sale.
SEC. 2. The proceeds from the sale of the property mentioned in section one shall be available for expenditure by the Director of Prisons, with the approval of the Secretary of Justice, for the purpose of purchasing a new prison site outside the City of Manila; for the construction of buildings and other necessary structures suitable for a modern penitentiary; for the purchase of the necessary equipment and supplies; and for salaries and such other expenses as may be deemed necessary to carry out the provisions of this Act.
SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
