AN ACT TO AMEND ACT NUMBERED THIRTY-TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN, AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF AGRICULTURE, WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE SECRETARY OF AGRICULTURE AND NATURAL RESOURCES, TO USE A SUM NOT TO EXCEED SIXTY-FIVE THOUSAND PESOS OUT OF THE UNEXPENDED BALANCES OF THE FUNDS APPROPRIATED FOR HIS BUREAU FOR THE FISCAL YEAR NINETEEN HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FIVE, FOR THE PURCHASE OF RUBBER SEEDS, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Legislature assembled and by the authority of the same:

SECTION 1. Act Numbered Thirty-two hundred and seventeen, entitled "An Act appropriating funds for the necessary expenses of the Government of the Philippine Islands during the  fiscal  year  ending December thirty-first,  nineteen hundred  and twenty-five, and for other purposes," is  hereby amended, authorizing the Director of Agriculture, with the approval  of the Secretary   of  Agriculture and Natural resources, to use a  sum not to exceed sixty-five thousand pesos out of the  unexpended  balances  of  the funds appropriated for his  Bureau for  the  year nineteen hundred and twenty-five, for the acquisition, by purchase or otherwise, preparation  and distribution  of  seeds and seedlings of "Para rubber"  (Hevea  braziliensis).  Said seeds and seedlings shall  be distributed, at a  reasonable price not to exceed cost,  to the  agriculturists of  any province  of the Philippine Islands applying  therefor, subject to such rules as the Director of Agriculture may prescribe and the Secretary  of  Agriculture and Natural Resources approve.

SEC. 2. The Director  of  Agriculture, with the approval of the Secretary of Agriculture  and Natural Resources, is hereby authorized  and  empowered  to  establish, equip, and maintain, with the funds appropriated in this Act, an experimental  rubber station  at  any suitable place in the Islands.   This  station  shall  be  established  on  suitable public land, if any such be  available., and if  not, the necessary land therefor may be acquired by  purchase or lease, with the funds appropriated in  this Act.

SEC. 3. The Director of Agriculture shall have charge and supervision of the experimental station and shall furnish to the planters and the general public suitable information and instructions concerning the cultivation of the rubber tree and  the  obtaining  and preparation  of the latex.

SEC. 4. This  Act shall take effect on  its approval.
